How does service relate to learning?

If people get involved in service learning projects, they are getting a hands on experience with other people that they have never met before. They are essentially learning from other people's past experiences. When getting involved in something like this, you are able to imagine how others have lived and you're not just helping them, but they are helping you grow as well by understanding where they are coming from.
